BCA launches monthly muscle car auctions

| 5 May 2012

BCA and DARCARS have joined forces to ensure a steady stream of US muscle at UK car auctions. Thanks to the link-up, BCA is now planning to hold a monthly sale of American classic muscle cars at BCA Nottingham.

The DARCARS group is said to be scouring the US to secure the most iconic and desirable examples of Americana Muscle Cars from the 1950s to 1970s.

Eight cars feature in the first sale, which takes place as part of the Sports, Prestige & Executive auction at BCA Nottingham on 21 June.

What's interesting is that rather than coming straight off the boat, all the muscle cars in the sale are said to have UK registration and a full MOT.

Further sales are scheduled for 19 July (16 cars) and 16 August (24 cars) and then at least 24 cars are promised monthly at each Top Car Auction in Nottingham.

The 21 June line-up includes three Chevrolet Corvettes, two Pontiac GTOs, one Chevrolet Camaro, one Pontiac Firebird and a Plymouth GTX (main image), with all models dating from 1963 to 1970.

The 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 Coupe has had a replacement engine block in the 1970s, but has been comprehensively restored in recent years.

A 1963 Chevrolet Corvette C2 has covered just 46,000 miles from new and fewer than 500 since a full "frame off" restoration, while the one of 3054 1970 Pontiac GTO Ram Air III Coupe has only 1000 miles under its wheels since a rebuild.
