Seven BMW M5s spanning almost every generation of the performance saloon’s production run have gone under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ 6 June sale at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

The 30th anniversary of the Bavarian super saloon was marked in fine style, with several examples getting away for bargain prices. Top of the table was a 2010 E60 M5 – one of just 25 built to mark the model’s 25th birthday – which sold for £26,500.

It was followed by a much more interesting 1987 E28, which garnered a lot of interest on the way to its £19,610 hammer price.

A brace of E34 M5s was snapped up for even less, with a saloon version fetching £6360 and a much rarer Touring example achieving £6148.

A 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo also fared well, surpassing its lower estimate by more than £7000. It fetched £22,790.

Like the Integrale, a 1975 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider was a UK-market car in right-hand-drive configuration. It sold for £11,872, beating its lower estimate by £4000.

It wasn’t just modern classics that performed well – a 1962 Triumph TR4 with 51,000 miles on the clock got away for £18,232.
