Bonhams to sell Sir Elton’s Bentley

| 8 Jun 2012

A 1975 Bentley that was once owned by superstar Sir Elton John will go under the hammer at Bonhams on 16 June.

The car (estimated at £50-60,000) is one of only 45 Series 1 Corniche convertibles built between 1971 and ’76 and was purchased new by the musician before he sold it to his personal assistant.

Talking of the car, Sir Elton said: “I've had a lot of people in it, Princess Margaret's been in it, everyone's been in it.”

The Bentley was bought by its present owner – who still has Sir Elton’s letter of provenance – when it showed less than 43,000 miles on the clock. It has been used sparingly since, while also benefiting from a £10,000 interior refurbishment by P&A Wood.

A lovely Jaguar XK120 Roadster also features in the sale. It was treated to a body-off restoration by Bridport Jaguar and is expected to make £70-90,000.
