An S1 Land-Rover modified for Sir Winston Churchill has smashed its estimate, making nearly £130,000 against what already looked like a generous pre-sale guide price of £50-60,000.
The vehicle was presented to Churchill for his 80th birthday and he was regularly chauffeured around his 300-acre Chartwell estate in Kent in it.
It was sold in Cambridgeshire yesterday by Cheffins.
