Cobra and Stratos top the bill in Monaco

| 4 Jul 2013

A restored 1965 AC Cobra 427 is set to top Artcurial’s glamorous 22 July sale in Monaco with an estimate of €400-500,000.

Owned by its current keeper since 2002, the car has recently been refurbished by Auto Techno Sport in Le Mans, with invoices for work including a new exhaust system, plus a replacement windscreen and a refurbished hood.

The gearbox was also overhauled, the drivetrain fine-tuned and an electric fuel pump installed.

A 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Injection Roadster will give bidders the chance to own one of the most desirable versions of the legendary American sports car.

Priced at €100-150,000, the car comes with a letter from vendor Gerald Johns detailing its 1987 restoration.

During the job, the 'Fuelie' was meticulously dismantled and rebuilt, with an eye to maintaining its originality, and it is now said to offer ‘a light patina that accentuates its charm’.

Upholding European honour is a 1976 Lancia Stratos that has been valued at €250-300,000.

The Stradale had a full mechanical service just a few months ago.

Offering much of the looks and performance of the other cars – but at a much lower price of admission – is a 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal.

Like the others, it has been lavished with attention and there are bills for €40,000, but it could be yours for just €35-40,000.

Other desirable classics include a 1956 Simca 9 Coupé De Ville (€15-20,000), a 1968 Autobianchi Eden Roc (below, €12-18,000) and a 1958 BMW Isetta Moretti (€30-40,000).
