COPO Camaro is top classic as Mecum sells 400 cars in California

| 28 Nov 2013

More than 800 classics crossed the block at Mecum's second annual auction at Anaheim, California with sales totalling $14million despite a low sale rate of around 50%.

A pair of Ford GTs were the top-sellers at the 21-23 November event, making $210,000 apiece on the hammer.

Best of the out and out classics was the a 1969 COPO Camaro (main image) that made $180k on the hammer.

The much-publicised ex-Steve McQueen Harley-Davidson didn't quite live up to the pre-sale hype, coming in at $125,000.

With more than 400 cars sold, there were some cheap deals to be had including a 1970 Chevy El Camino SS for $14,500 and a 1944 Ford US Army Jeep for $15,000.
