Diana’s Audi smashes estimate at Coys

A 1994 Audi Cabriolet 2.3E that once belonged to Diana Princess of Wales sold for £32,900 on the hammer at Coys' 29 June Blenheim Palace sale.

The car, which had been extensively photographed with Her Royal Highness at the wheel, was expected to make £20-25,000.

A 1965 AC Cobra 289 MkIII that once belonged to the late Tara Browne, who was heir to the Guinness Brewery fortune made £320,000.

A 1970 Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona also did well against its £240-300,000 valuation to make £330,000.

Other lots of interest included a couple of barn-finds, an ex-Brian Epstein 1965 Radford Mini that made £22,000, a 1954 Jaguar XK120 that sold for £30,000, plus a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 500SL that was delivered new to Sir Stirling Moss. The latter made £13,000 against it pre-sale valuation of £7000-8000.
