A Jaguar E-type S3 was the top sale at Barons’ auction on Tuesday.
The E-type went over estimate, selling for £36,000, knocking a 328GTS (£34,750) that once belonged to DJ Chris Evans off top spot. The British sports car will be shipped to Australia.
A youngtimer Bentley Continental was the third highest sale (£28,000), while a 1961 300G that had been restored by Chrysler UK in ’97 went to a Welsh buyer for £20,730 and took fourth slot.
Other lots of note were a 1967 Jaguar E-type Series 1 1/2 4.2 fhc restoration project (£9532) and a 1969 Riley Elf MkIII (£2812).
British cars had a strong showing with an MG Midget 1500 (£4700), a low-mileage Spitfire (£5600) and a MGB GT V8 (£8100) all selling on the day.
Barons returns to Sandown Park on 17 September with confirmed lots including a restored 1937 Hotchkiss Riviera dhc (£37-45,000) and a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL (£30-40,000).
