Ex-Barry Sheene Suzuki up for grabs at H&H

| 17 Jan 2013

A 1979 Suzuki LJ80R that once belonged to motorcycling legend Barry Sheene is estimated to make £7-9000 at H&H’s Pavilion Gardens sale on 26 February.

The flamboyant rider took back-to-back world championships for Suzuki in 1976-’77 and was presented with the jeep in 1979.

It served time as a promotional vehicle and pit transport, remaining with Sheene until his emigration to Australia forced its sale in ’87.

The vehicle has covered just 26,000 miles and comes complete with a soft-top, removable doors and period photos.

A 1967 Mini Cooper ‘S’ and a 1967 Austin-Healey Sprinzel Sebring Sprite Evocation (both estimated at £14-16,000) will be offered at the same sale.

The Mini has been upgraded with a Stage 3 head, duplex timing chain, an Aldon performance distributor and a Maniflow stainless-steel exhaust.

The Austin-Healey has been treated to a new body and doors.

Any money raised by the two cars will be donated to the RSPB at the bequest of the late Michael Sutton who owned and restored them.

The growing list of lots also includes a meticulously restored Jaguar XK120.
