| 26 Nov 2014

The acclaimed automotive collection of Paul and Chris Andrews will be auctioned by RM in Fort Worth, Texas from 30 April to 2 May – and it includes some of the rarest cars in the world.

Paul and Chris Andrews

The Andrews Collection represents the life's work of enthusiast and businessman Paul Andrews and his son, Chris, and comprises 75 classic cars as well as a large amount of automobilia. And to make things extra interesting, all the lots will be offered without reserve.

Duesenberg Model SJ Town Car

One of the highlights of the sale is the famed Ethel Mars 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Town Car, the design of which was said to be influenced by Mae West. The car was delivered new to confectionary heiress and horse racer Ethel Mars.

Cobra 289

Also expected to set pulses racing is a 1963 Shelby 289 Competition Cobra. As well as being one of three factory competition examples, chassis CSX2011 was the first Cobra racer to be sold to the public. Expectations will surely have been raised following the model's recent success at RM's Sam Pack sale.

Ferrari 400 Superamerica

Though the collection has an appreciable American bias, a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica swb Cabriolet also ranks among the top lots. The car is one of just seven examples bodied by Pininfarina and was displayed at the Geneva Salon and New York Auto Show in 1962.

"We want to get down to a smaller amount of cars – perhaps 15 to 20 – that we very much enjoy driving and that we can use on events with the family," said Chris. "There are a number of meetings we'd still like to try overseas and here in the United States, and in order to do that, we need to focus on a more manageable collection."
