Two new US-style classic auctions are to be trialled in the UK when H&H gives them a run-out at the forthcoming Coventry Festival of Motoring.
During the event - at Stoneleigh Park on 25-26 August - people will have the opportunity either hire a pitch to advertise their car for sale (and even sell it themselves if they wish) or to take part in a pair of "rolling auction" that will take place during the course of the weekend.
The 'open' sales cost £50 plus VAT for a weekend car plot and the same again for an auction entry. Transfer from pitch to auction is £25 a car plus VAT.
The festival attracts some 20,000 and is seen as the ideal UK test-bed for the auction techniques.
H&H marketing manager Richard Caton said: “Though our regular auctions are the perfect events for many people to sell their classic vehicles, we were determined to provide our clients with some exciting new choices.
"We believe the combination of personal sales pitch and American-style ‘rolling’ auction could prove very popular – especially as we have very deliberately kept the charges as low as possible.”
The initiative is also backed by Jaguar Heritage and event organisers.
