Hopkirk's Le Mans car up for grabs

| 19 Apr 2013

A Healey prototype that Coys tells us was raced by Paddy Hopkirk and Andrew Hedges at Le Mans in 1966 will be on offer with an estimate of £180-220,000 at the auction house's next sale on 27 April.

Built by Donald Healey in ’65, the car also raced at Sebring in ’66 with Paul Hawkins and Timo Makinen behind the wheel. Having been exported to the US, the racer participated in the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours driven by Bill Harris.

Raced at the Le Mans Classic and Goodwood’s Revival in 2010, the car still has its original four-speed gearbox and is FIA compliant.
