A restored 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible will be one of the stars going under the hammer at Barrett-Jackson’s huge no-reserve sale in Tahoe from 8-10 August.

The Corvette has a 283cu in V8, with dual, four barrel carburettors, an optional four-speed manual transmission, Wonder Bar push-button radio, BFGoodrich whitewall tires, plus an unused spare that’s still in the boot.

The fully documented rebuild was completed in September 2007 and the car has covered juat a few miles since.

It is just one of numerous classic Corvettes up for grabs including two from the William Munday Collection– a 1957 and a 1959 convertible.

More than 700 classics will be offered at the sale covering everything from a 1958 Edsel Ranger to a 1971 Chevrolet El Camino SS pick-up and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird.

One of the rarest is a 1968 Volkswagen Kyote II custom dune buggy, which was created by the late Dean Jeffries, who died in May and was famous for creating the Mantaray that starred in Bikini Beach.

The buggy was owned by one of the founders of the hot-rod scene, Vic Edelbrock, until 2010.

The car features a 1835cc VW engine with an Edelbrock Bug Spray two-barrel carburettor, manifold and valve covers.
