Mecum shifts 500 classics at its year-end Kansas sale

Mecum ended its auction year with a bumper 795-classic sale in Kansas City. The company shifted almost 500 of the cars for a 62% sale rate and grossed $11.5million from 5-7 December.

Top-seller was a Fleetwood-bodied 1931 Cadillac V12 Convertible coupe that made $175k, while best muscle car performance came from a matching-mumbers 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, which made $160,000.

Third priciest classic was the 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 'Twister' Special at $107k, just ahead of a 1967 Shelby GT350 fastback ($105k) and another Mach 1 'Twister' at $82,000.
