Rare Buick GSX to cross the block at Mecum

| 7 May 2013

A 1970 Buick GSX is estimated to make $125-150,000 at Mecum’s Original Spring Classic sale in Indianapolis, USA, from 14-19 May.

One of just 278 built that year, the muscle car features a 455cu in V8, which has been treated to hotter cams, larger valves and a revised carburettor courtesy of a Stage 1 tuning pack that was an $1100 option.

It now boasts 360bhp and 510lb ft of torque, while power is delivered through a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission.

Charged with reining in all those horses are Rally America wheels fitted with fat tyres and uprated suspension. The car also features front and rear spoilers, while inside there are bucket seats and unique gauges.

Finished in Saturn Yellow with black stripes, the Buick comes complete with a Muscle Car and Corvette National Gold Certificate of Excellence, plus the Buick Club of America Senior Award.
