Rare Merak set to storm Silverstone sale

| 23 Apr 2013

A 1975 Maserati Merak that was restyled by Swiss specialist Carrosserie Saurer is expected to make £35-40,000 at Silverstone Auctions’ International Trophy Sale at the Northants circuit on 17 May.

It features an aggressive bodykit, with a revised front grille, faired-in headlights, a sprinkling of air ducts and pronounced rear haunches.

A set of Gotti alloy wheels completes what Paul Saurer considered his ideal ‘Hot Merak’.

The exterior changes don’t translate to anything new underneath, which would have arguably suited the macho new looks, and it features standard Merak running gear – meaning a 2970cc V6 engine.
