Thunder forecast at Mecum spring sale

| 9 May 2012

Top fuel dragsters and funny cars are set to add shock and awe to the American muscle cars at Mecum’s 2000-plus car sale that kicks off on 15 May in Indianapolis, USA.

The opening day, also known as Super Tuesday, will include highlights such as a 1933 Dodge Brothers Roadster and a 1969 Pontiac GTO Ram Air, both coming from the collection of Indianapolis car dealer Ray Skillman.

By Friday cars such as this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (main picture) and a 1968 AMC Javelin will cross the block.

On Saturday the explosive power of the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am funny car will be joined by a 1974 Ivo streamliner top fuel Dragster that earned 5th spot in qualifying at the season-opening NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, CA, despite crossing the line upside down and on fire.

Seeming tame in comparison will be a 1967 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro, a 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Nova and two L88 Corvettes – a 1968 convertible and a 1969 coupe.

You can find out more about the sale on Mecum’s website.
