Hickman design drawings head sale of his automobilia

The automobilia collection of Lotus design legend the late Ron Hickman is to be auctioned by Bonhams at the Beaulieu International Autojumble on 7 September.

The 20-plus lots include cutaways, cartoons, illustrations, memorabilia and a huge collection of books.

One of the most interesting lots is a set of 10 concept designs by Hickman himself (main image), all signed or initialled and carrying a guide price of just £250-350.

Among the cutaways is a pair of Elans by James Allington and JG Hostler (£200-300).

Another interesting lot is a set of various Lotus collectibles estimated to make £350-450. It includes a number of rare items including a 'Colin Chapman's Old Boys' commemorative watch, a Graham Hill autograph in pencil, and three first day covers signed by Sammy Davis, Moss and Jack Fairman.

Among several lots of books, one is dedicated solely to Lotus cars (£200-300).
