Best turnout yet planned for Surrey classic show

More than 70 classics are expected to attend the 5th Haslemere Classic Car Show and Tour on 26 May.

Quickly turning into a popular meet, the event will attract a wide range of pre-1973 vehicles including turn of the century veterans, post-war family classics, four-wheeled Americana, racers and early ’70s supercars.

For some, the day will begin with a pre-booked morning run through the surrounding countryside, with a breakfast stop, which concludes at the opening of the event on Lion Green.

There will be two awards up for grabs for Best Dressed car and The Peoples Choice’ with prizes including a pair of tickets to the Goodwood Revival.

Similarly to the Revival, the show will adopt a ’50s theme with visitors encouraged to don period dress, while there will also be a traditional fete with market stalls selling everything from automobilia to food and drink.

New this year, the Lion's Corner House will serve cream teas, organise a baking competition and host a display of classic motorbikes.

The show is free to enter, but visitors are advised to a fill in a booking form ASAP.

Meanwhile, the morning tour costs £15 per car and £5 per person, while under-14s go for free, or for £3 if they have breakfast.
