Celebrity Mini fans to duel on track at Brands Hatch this weekend

| 20 Jun 2013

The huge Mini Festival comes to Brands Hatch this weekend (22-23 June) and a couple of high-profile classic car enthusiasts have signed up to race at it. AC/DC front man Brian Johnson and celebrity chef James Martin will both take to the Kent track in classic Minis.

Martin, who attended the festival last year, has three planned outings including a 40-minute enduro for pre-1966 cars and an all-comers sprint when he will be pitted against some seriously modified cars.

Johnson has even more recent experience of the circuit after taking part in the Masters. He said: "I've got old tapes of archive footage of Brands Hatch from the 1960s and nothing has changed apart from some catch fencing and these big gravel traps.

“This is such a classic track, every corner is brilliant and at this one [Paddock] you need massive courage! Even coming down the straight you've got dips and crests, it's such a pleasure to drive it."

Loads more will be going on during the weekend for enthusiasts, see the website for details.
