Now in its fifth year, it's all change for the increasingly popular Cheshire festival this year. In a bid to avoid the atrocious weather that has dogged the Pageant, the event is coming forward from its traditional date to 15-17 June.

There is also a new feature, a 60-mile run for 200 entrants from Manchester to Cholmondeley on Thursday 14 June.

Special attractions this year include a special celebration to mark the AC Cobra’s 50th anniversary. Organisers pledge the "largest gathering of the Anglo-American sports car in the UK this year" in a special display entitled Cobras at the Castle.

There will also be a special race category on the 1.2-mile course – the ‘AC Cobra 50th Anniversary Class’ – that will include several of  the most famous Cobras, including one of only three Lightweights.

Cholmondeley has announced the expansion of the Super Car class and expects to welcome back the first three "Top Gear Leaderboard" cars which caused such a stir in 2011 year.

A strong turn-out of post-war single-seaters is lined up, including a raft of BRMs to be supplied by Hall & Hall and others.

A welter of vintage aero-engined behemoths is also expected, while there will be action on the rally stage and autograssing on the infield.

Plenty of entertainment is promised for all the family, such as the fairground, services manoeuvres, helicopter flights, powerboat action on the lake and much more.

James Hall, Event Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, said: “The philosophy behind the Pageant is simple – to create the UK’s most thrilling day out, and to ensure that admission prices are incredible value. We have entertainment for all ages and interests, with a huge number of opportunities for visitors to get involved in the action. The Pageant of Power will be bigger and better in 2012, consolidating its reputation as a must-attend event.”
