Classics run for charity

| 13 Apr 2012

Beautiful countryside and a hot breakfast await entrants to the 14th-annual Sports & Classic Car Run, with proceeds going to the North Devon Hospice.

The tour will set off from the home of Lord and Lady Arran, Castle Hill, before taking a loop around the North Devon coastline. Participants will find an array of stalls, children’s entertainment, a hog roast and cream tea on their return.

Last year’s event attracted 120 cars, ranging from a Lotus Esprit to a Morris Minor, Fiat 500 and this Volvo Amazon. Known as the 120 series everywhere but Sweden, it came in two-door, four-door and station-wagon form.

The 123GT capitalised on the 120’s success on the rally scene and brought with it overdrive, servo front disc brakes and bumper-mounted foglamps. The twin-carb 1.8-litre engine could be tuned to 132bhp if left in the hands of Ruddspeed.

Luckily you don’t need a rally-ready car to participate in the 3 June event, £40 guarantees your place.  Find out more here.
