Classics swarm to West Berkshire

| 15 Oct 2012

Nearly 250 cars packed out Dunstan Green for the sixth Thatcham Classic on Saturday 13 October.

The annual event attracted a host of local cars and several clubs, as well as those from further afield, which helped to make this the largest event so far.

The unrestricted entry requirements meant that the mixture on the field was truly eclectic, with a mint Montego Turbo sharing the grass with a pair of Aston Martin DB6s.

With the show organised by Classic & Sports Car’s art editor, Martin Port, there were a number of the Our Classics cars in attendance: Elliott’s Elan +2, Evans’ BMW 2002tii, Clements’ MG Magnette, Taylor’s Corvette Stingray and Cauter’s Jaguar E-type, as well as the Ports’ Scimitar and Beetle.

C&SC’s Car of Show award went to Peter Mason and his 1934 Standard 12/4 Deluxe – chosen for its outstanding, post-restoration condition.

Although the event was free to attend, £343 was raised in donations for Macmillan Cancer Support – you can still donate online by clicking here.
