Goodwood Members’ Meeting set for return

| 6 Aug 2015

The Goodwood Members’ Meeting will return for the third time in its revived form following the success of the 72nd and 73rd events of the past two years. The 74th meeting is expected to take place on 19-20 March 2016.

In addition to a stellar roster of celebrity drivers, which this year included Le Mans 24 Hours winners Jochen Mass, Emanuele Pirro and Richard Atwood, plus Tour Car legends Steve Soper, Rob Huff, Matt Neal, Tim Harvey, Mat Jackson, Rob Gravett and Jason Plato, a host of new races has been announced.

Motorcycle racing, ever popular at the Goodwood Revival, will be making its debut at the Members’ Meeting with a world-class lineup of 250 and 350cc Grand Prix machines from the 1970s and 1980s – an era that featured world title success for riders such as Giacomo Agostini, Walter Villa, Johnny Cecotto and Toni Mang.

Meanwhile, the dusk race will be dedicated exclusively to the Ford GT40 to mark the 50th anniversary of the model’s maiden win at Le Mans in 1966. The event will also introduce the Whitmore Trophy for mid-1960s saloons in honour of former British and European Touring Car Champion Sir John Whitmore.

The Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 touring cars of the early 1980s makes its return for the third successive year, while several high-speed demonstrations of ground-effect Formula 1 cars from 1977-’82 are slated to take place.
