Alfa Romeo has announced that it will be sending Hans Stuck’s 1977 Alfa Romeo-powered Brabham to this year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida in a rare outing from its Arese museum.

The car will serve as the centrepiece of an entire class dedicated to the Formula One ace, who amassed a legion of US fans following a stellar performance in soaking conditions at the ’77 US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. Stuck exhibited dazzling car control to place his Brabham BT45B on the first row in front of a 100,000-strong crowd, only bested by reigning World Champion James Hunt.

“I was at Watkins Glen in 1977 and have great memories of Stuck’s Brabham and the great sound of that 12-cylinder Alfa Romeo engine,” said Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance founder Bill Warner. “We’re honoured that Alfa Romeo has sent this car from their fabulous museum in Arese, Italy to honour Hans Stuck.”
