Hundreds of Land-Rovers descend on Hampshire

| 14 Aug 2013

More than 250 Land-Rovers amassed at Beaulieu’s latest Simply-themed event on 11 August.

Clubs attending the meet included the Solent and District Land-Rover Club and the Range Rover Register, both of which put on amazing displays of the venerable 4x4 covering young and classic models.

The Land-Rover Experience West Country offered visitors the opportunity to tackle Beaulieu’s off-road Forest Drive either in their own car or as a passenger in one of the vehicles provided.

The People’s Choice Award was won by Nigel Major from Christchurch for his fantastic 1978 Land Rover Series III 109 fire engine.

Nigel – a full-time firefighter at Bournemouth Airport – bought the vehicle on eBay three years ago.

After being given a trophy and a Land-Rover mug, he led a cavalcade of the top-placed vehicles through the grounds of Beaulieu.

The next in the series of gatherings will be Simply Classics, which will be held on 25 August.
