Jackie Stewart to head up motor sport conference

Three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart will join other leading names in motor sport for the first History of Motorsport Technology Conference & Dinner at Cranfield University on 3 July.

The conference will cover topics such as Ground Effects from the 1920s, Technology and the Land Speed Record, The Major Schools of Motorsport Engineering, F1 Race Car Design and Development in the 1960s and ’70s, and Impact Testing of F1 cars since the 1980s.

Speakers at the event include Peter Wright – who pioneered ground effects at Lotus and went on to be the team’s MD and technical director – motor sport journalist and F1 specialist Joe Saward and composites expert and senior engineer at Williams – Brian O’Rouke.

There will also be a display of competition cars covering the early years through to the modern day with an F1 AMG Mercedes Petronas a confirmed booking, and there will be a exhibit of technical drawings and illustrations covering development and innovation in motorsport.
