Japanese models flock to the National Motor Museum

More than 350 far easterm cars motored into Beaulieu for the venue’s Simply Japanese day on 3 August.

Marques on show included Mazda, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Mitsubishi, Lexus and Datsun, covering everything from concours-condition classics to the latest models.

The People’s Choice Award went to Dean Cooper’s Toyota Starlet. He has owned the car for five years and, with help from a friend, spent three of those restoring it.

As is the tradition with Simply events, the Toyota led a cavalcade of the most-voted-for vehicles around the museum’s grounds.

Beaulieu’s Judith Maddox said: “We were delighted with the turnout, with a great range of vehicles, and were especially pleased to have a good number of clubs attending, including the Mazda RX-8, Lexus and Nissan Owners’ Clubs, Nissan Sportz and Nissan Skyline Club.

Simply Land-Rover on 11 August is the next in the series of meets.
