Lone star state to host concours

America’s reputation for high quality concours d’elegance events is to get a boost with the news that Texas will host a new show fixture next spring.

Concours d'Elegance of Texas will take place on 6 May next year at Houston's La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, located on the shores of Lake Conroe.

The event will be headed by Lolly Bezy, the former head of the long-running Concours d'Elegance America, held for many years Meadow Brook (but more recently in St John’s), Michigan every year.

Bezy is hoping the event’s location – a first for the southern state – will allow the organisers to tap into local collections.

"Texas is home to many of the more notable automobile collections and there has long been a need for a premier concours event here in the state," said Bezy although he has yet to confirm details of cars confirmed.

The new Texas concours will also emulate Concours d'Elegance America’s link to a sale house with the Texan event coinciding with auction partner Worldwide Auctions’ annual Houston sale.
