Marshall's Old Nail to run at Festival of Speed

| 9 Feb 2012

Gerry Marshall's famous saloon car championship-winning Vauxhall Firenza, Old Nail, is to roar up Lord March's driveway this summer when it takes part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The car, the most successful racing saloon of its era in the UK with some 60 wins to its name, sold for £47,700 at Bonhams historic motor vehicle auction at the 2011 Festival Speed and will compete on the 1.16-mile Goodwood hillclimb from 29 June to 1 July.

Now owned by Paul Chase-Gardener, Old Nail will run as part of a batch of big-banger saloons.

The class is set to include other examples of General Motors European products, including Marshall's celebrated DTV 'Baby Bertha' Firenza, plus the 1980s racing Vauxhall Carlton Thunder Saloon and 'stars and stripes' Opel Manta V8.
