Metro 6R4 and McLaren to be celebrated at Race Retro

| 15 Nov 2013

Two major celebrations are on the cards for Race Retro 2014: the track pedigree of McLaren and the rally glory of the MG Metro 6R4.

Taking place at Stoneleigh Park on 21-23 February, the event will showcase the ex-Emerson Fittipaldi 1974 championship winning McLaren M23.

It also promises monstrous, championship-dominating McLaren M8 Can-Am Challenge car, plus the iconic 240 mph McLaren F1 supercar that enjoyed an astounding victory at the 1995 LeMans 24 Hours.

It’s been 30 years since the debut of the crowd-pleasing MG Metro 6R4 Group B rally car.

Using a Williams GP developed rear-mounted 400 bhp V6 version of the AR Group aluminium V8 engine coupled to constant four-wheel-drive transmission the tubular space framed machine was clothed in bodywork resembling the humble Mini Metro, albeit very much on steroids!

As well as a static display, the Metro 6R4 will also be reliving its glory days on the purpose built Rally Stage.
