MG festival scoops tourism award

The MG Car Club’s annual marque celebration, MG Live!, picked up a gong in the 2011 Tourism South East Awards, held on Denbies wine estate in Surrey on 1 December.

Although the three-day event was pipped to the post for top spot by Royal Ascot, the MGCC is delighted at the recognition its Silverstone circuit-based gathering achieved.

“The judges were impressed by the fact that MG Live! attracted enthusiasts from 15 countries and featured a broad range of family-orientated entertainment,” said the MGCC’s press officer, Chris Seaward. “Our tree-planting programme to ensure that the event was carbon neutral was also a factor.”

"The MG Car Club is thrilled that MGLive! has been recognised in such a prestigious and high-profile manner,” added the club’s general manager Julian White – pictured above (centre) with Tourism South East chairman John Williams (right) and MGCC chairman Bill Silcock (left).
