Planning is well underway for the MG Car Club’s huge European Event of the Year, which has already received 300 enquiries and will be held in Aviemore on 16 of August next year.
Organised by the Club’s Caledonian Centre, the five-day tour will be based in the McDonald Hotel complex, which lies in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, starting with a civic reception hosted by the Highland Council.
Over the following four days MGs ranging from the 1930s to present day cars under the reborn MG banner will tour the best roads, scenery and sites that Scotland has to offer.
The 350-place entry list will formally open on 1 October, but with over 40,000 members worldwide interest been received from as far afield as Australia, Canada and the USA.
Robert MacGillivray from the Caledonian Centre organising team said: “Our aim is to showcase Scotland, Speyside and the Cairngorms as a world class leisure destination. We’ll be providing tours around the Strathspey area with visits to Fort George and Cawdor Castle, and a look at the Nairn Highland Games.
“We’ve got whisky trails – assuredly tee-total for the drivers! – and visits to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Each day our European participants will be lunching and dining on world-renowned Scottish fare. The whole Scottish package, I think, is what has really caught the attention of MG enthusiasts worldwide.”
