Moss to be reunited with Reims-winning C-type at Donington

| 26 Mar 2012

Sir Stirling Moss is to take to the track in the very Jaguar C-type that he drove to victory in the 1952 Reims Grand Prix for sports cars, .

Moss is to demonstrate the Jaguar at Donington Historic Festival on 6 May to mark the 60th anniversary of the first major race victory for a disc-braked car in XKC 005.

At Reims in 1952 the heat was so intense and the competition so fierce that Moss was near to collapsing after taking the chequered flag.

Jaguar team manager 'Lofty' England said that while the national anthem was played, the team had to help Moss to stand and poured a bucket of water over him to keep him conscious.

Day tickets for the Donington Historic Festival cost £18 in advance (£25 on the gate), while weekend tickets cost £30 in advance (£40 on the gate). Children aged under 16 are admitted free.

Entry tickets and camping tickets can be bought via the website or through the 24-hour ticket hotline 0844 873 7355.
