Munich honours its two-door classes

| 3 Nov 2011

BMW is celebrating its coupé and convertible legacy in a special exhibition in its Munich museum.

The Line of Beauty: The big BMW Coupés and Convertibles showcases 14 key models, beginning with a 1937 BMW 327 Sports Convertible and 327/8 Coupé (both above) plus a 502 (below) in both guises, running up to the company’s later 6- and 8-series models.

Also honoured are the Goertz-penned 503 models (C&SC September), the Bertone-designed 3200CS, and a BMW 2000 CS – the model that ushered in the company’s successful Neue Klasse era.

Other standouts include a BMW 3.0CSi – representing the E9 range of 3.0 CSL fame.

The exhibition opened on 28 October and runs to September 2012.

Entry costs €12 per person (€6 for concessions). See The Line of Beauty for more.
