Owls Head Museum to host custom car cruise

| 1 Jul 2016

Dozens of historic American classics are set to descend upon the Owls Head Transportation Museum for the annual Hot Rod, Custom & Muscle Car Cruise-In on 10 July.

A number of significant US classics are expected to turn out for the event, including the 1965 Ford Falcon factory drag car ‘Wild Child’, which will take part in a number of demonstration runs throughout the day. It will be joined by a number of cars from the museum’s own collection.

The event will also play host to the Maine Vintage Race Car Association’s Maine Motorsports Mobile Museum, while visitors will also be able to take free rides in a Ford Model T.

The action on the ground will be matched by that in the air, with a number of the museum’s vintage aeroplanes taking to the sky. They include a 1923 Fokker CIVa, a 1930 Travel Air Speedwing and a 1917 Checkerboard SPAD, plus many more.

There will also be the opportunity for passenger rides in the museum’s 1941 Stearman biplane.

Away from the demonstrations, the museum will showcase several new exhibitions which have been installed during the winter. They include features on pioneering women of transport, The Bentley Boys, and the era of coachbuilt classics.
