Record crowds pack Pageant of Power

More than 65,000 visitors flooded into the grounds of Cholmondeley Castle from 12-14 June for the biggest Pageant of Power ever. 

Three days of exciting track action featured a diverse range of high-performance vehicles, from fire-breathing Napier-Bentleys through to former Formula One racers, while the skies above Cheshire were filled with stunning air displays, including a rare flight of the last airworthy Avro Vulcan bomber.

Concours competitions were devoted to Lotus, US Muscle and Eighties Supercars throughput the weekend, with the overall winner Adrian Marshall and his 1983 Lamborghini Countach LP500S.

On track, the fastest time was posted by Gary Thomas is his Force PC – 58.34secs. The Pre-’66 class was topped by Andrew Smith, who drove his Cooper T43 to an impressive 65.80secs.

The most consistent performance of the weekend was produced by Damon Milnes, who picked up the Bentley Coupe D’Honneur trophy for his skill behind the wheel of his Chevron B48.

“It’s been an incredible weekend, with what is without a doubt our best ever content,” said event director James Hall. “As a result, this year saw us achieve out biggest ever crowds, with numbers of over 65,000.
