The second running of the Bosch Moskau Klassik at the end of June reinforced its reputation as the only outright speed event available for Russian classic car enthusiasts. Prior to this event only regularities could be competed in, so this event has proven popular for its special sections and driving tests.
As the 35 crews lined up for the start in the Tsaritsyno memorial estate, a wonderful selection of classics was on show, ranging from a 1913 Waverley, via a 1935 Horch 830 on to popular American muscle cars from Ford and Chevrolet and a wealth of well-preforming German classics.
First stop was the Leader circuit near Moscow for a driving test, the veteran class won by Boris Shashlov and Oleg Sheyanov in a 1959 GAZ-21, and victory in the prestige class going to Larisa and Oleg Alekseyev in a 1969 Dodge Charger.
There was a fierce shootout in the hotly contested sports car class with Anton Shcherbakov and Pavel Matveyev's 1975 VAZ-2101 in third, the 1969 Corvette Stingray of Igor and Maksim Volchek runner-up and the triumph going to Minsk-based Mini team Serguey Shishko and Dmitry Barkan.
At the end of the event, all the participants paraded around the circuit in front of the 500 spectators before enjoying an awards dinner.
