Surtees and his machines to star in Kent

| 3 May 2013

John Surtees OBE – the only person to win World Championships on two and four wheels – will be lending his support to the Edenbridge Fun Day on 27 May.

Held in Surtees’ home town, the event will play host to a number of machines that are close to his heart. The first is a Surtees TS7 (above), his team’s first F1 car, which he raced on its debut at Brands Hatch in 1970 and will demonstrate at the event.

Other Surtees Racing Organisation single-seaters on display include the TS14 (above) that Mike Hailwood drove to second place in the 1972 Italian Grand Prix, and a TS15 (below) – the two-litre Formula 2 car in which Carlos Pace won at Interlagos, Brazil, in ’73.

Motorcycles will also be on show, including a 1960 MV Agusta GP machine (below) and a 1954 BMW Rennsport (bottom).

All the vehicles will be displayed outside the Bradford shop, in Station Road, where they were built and designed by predominantly local residents.

Meanwhile, a parade convoy will include cars from TVR, Alvis and Reliant, plus a Jaguar S-type police car complete with radio, bell, klaxons and two uniformed mannequins in the back.
