E-type world record at Silverstone

The eponymous Jaguar may be 50 years old, but it can still set world records.

Organisers of the Silverstone Classic festival from 22-24 July are planning to set a Guinness Record for the largest E-type parade.

The previous record was 201 cars in June '07, but the Silverstone attempt - run in association with C&SC - expects to see 1500.

"We already have 28 cars from Switzerland alone and it looks as if there will be many more from the US and Germany," said event manager Neil Carr-Jones.

The cars will parade the new Northants circuit just two weeks after its inaugural F1 race.

Want to register your E-type? E-mail silverstoneclassic@goose.co.uk before 30 June or visit www.silverstoneclassic.com for more details. Owners who participate will get a two-for-one entry to the festival and a commemorative plaque.
