The buzz around the Jaguar E-type’s 50th anniversary continues unabated after the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers voted the famous Coventry sports car the ‘most iconic car of the last 50 years.’

The accolade was announced at the Scottish Car of the Year awards in Glasgow on 14 October, following a vote by all 16 full members of the ASMW.

Jaguar’s head of public relations, Ken McConomy, received the trophy from award sponsor Bridge of Weir Leather’s Jonathan Muirhead (above).

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director was delighted: “The 50th anniversary of the E-type is truly special, as proven by the reaction throughout the year from owners and enthusiasts, many of whom weren't even born in 1961.

“We're honoured that the Association should present such an important award to the E-type and it is testament to the incredible talents of the design and engineer teams that created the car.”
