Metro 6R4 reunited with Harri Toivonen

Former Finnish rally and race driver Harri Toivonen – brother of the late Henri – will be reunited with his 1986 works Metro 6R4 at this year’s Chelsea AutoLegends on 2 September.

Backed by Unipart, the Metro took the Finn to eighth place on the 1000 Lakes Rally in his home country and rounded off the season at the RAC Rally, where it retired with engine failure.

The car has spent the past 25 years in the US, but was brought back to the UK by its current owner, John Saunders, who has returned it to its former glory.

The competition-ready machine will join a host of other rally cars at the event.

Organiser Max Wakefield said: “We’re thrilled to welcome both Harri Toivonen and the fabulous Metro 6R4 to this year’s event. Chelsea AutoLegends continues to deliver a mouthwatering array of some of the most beautiful cars in the world and the 6R4 will definitely be a crowd pleaser."
