Old Speckled Hen’s MGB giveaway

| 12 Sep 2012

Old Speckled Hen has announced plans to offer an MGB as first prize in its competition celebrating 50 years of the marque’s iconic sports car.

The famous ale brand started life as a commemorative beer to mark the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon.

The company’s marketing director, Dom South, explains: “Old Speckled Hen took its distinctive name from an old canvas-covered MG used by employees as the factory runaround.

“Often parked outside the factory paint shop and consequently splattered with flecks of paint, this unique little motor was lovingly nicknamed the Owld Speckled ’Un’. It provided the perfect inspiration for the name of the new beer.

“We are extremely proud of our heritage, so giving away a classic MGB is a fantastic way of saying thank you to our customers, while celebrating our own history in the year of the MGB’s 50th anniversary.”

Along with the full-size MGB going to one lucky winner, there will also be a limited-edition Old Speckled Hen Corgi collectors’ die-cast model for 1000 runners-up.
