Surtees spills the beans in Essex

Motor sport great John Surtees OBE was the special guest as JD Classics opened the doors to its Maldon premises on 28 October.

Surtees talked about his competition career during a Q&A session that covered topics such as the dangers of racing and the challenge of being a world champion on both two and four wheels – something only he has achieved.

The open morning gave guests the chance to look around the company that runs Jaguar’s works Heritage Race Team, giving access to the restorer’s current projects and the in-house departments – including chassis, engine, paint and trim – responsible for revitalising them.

Managing director Derek Hood said:  “It has been a fantastic morning and undoubtedly the busiest Breakfast at JD’s we have organised so far - the premises were full of visitors. As an enthusiast of both two and four wheels, I was especially fascinated with the anecdotes from John Surtees.”

Sir Stirling Moss will be the firm’s next guest when it hosts another Breakfast at JD Classics on 18 November.
