Historic F1 season kicks off at Hockenheim

Joaquin Folch in a Brabham BT49C and Richard Eyre in a Williams FW08 were the winners at this weekend’s opening round of the Historic Formula One Championship at Hockenheim.

In the first race mechanical failure meant Eyre and Steve Hartley, in the A4 Arrows, started from the back of the grid and the pits. Both made quick progress through the field finishing second and third, after Hartley found a way round the Williams.

But by that point Folch was clear of the field and went on to win the race.

Rain hampered race two with Folch struggling to control the Brabham and Hartley crashing-out, leaving Eyre victorious despite his car still wearing slicks.

The next round of the HFO will be held at the RMU Classic at Spa.
