Jaguar race series launches this year

| 11 Feb 2015

A brand-new historic race series catering exclusively for Jaguars will be launched this year following the success of the E-type Challenge. The Jaguar Heritage Challenge Series, which is a joint venture between Jaguar and the Historic Sports Car Club, will be open to any pre-'66 Jaguar, including C-types, D-types and early E-types, plus Mk1 and Mk2 saloons.

The championship will run from 2 May to 31 August and will be contested at five  circuits: Donington, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, with the only overseas race taking place at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring in Germany. Each race will coincide with a historic event, such as the Silverstone Classic and Donington Historic Festival.

Entrants will be divided into five separate classes: XK-series cars and pre-'66 saloons will have their own categories, while C-types, D-types and XKSS will all share a class.  The two remaining grids will be comprised exclusively of E-types.

Director of Jaguar's heritage business, Derek Weale, said: "We are delighted that our new Heritage Race series will take place at some of the best drivers' circuits in Europe and at world-famous historic race meetings. The spectacle of seeing a race dedicated to these classic Jaguars, on these circuits and at these events is going to be a sight to savour and behold."
