Ferrrai’s first F1 winner José Froilan Gonzáles will be celebrated at the Silverstone Classic from 26-28 July.
The Historic Grand Prix Cars Association will run the Froilan Gonzáles Trophy for HGPCA Pre-’61 Grand Prix Cars in honour of the Argentinian who died last week.
Gonzáles had a special relationship with the British Grand Prix circuit – taking both his GP wins at the track, one of which was the Scuderia’s first triumph in F1.
Speaking of that famous win he would later say: "Everyone was shouting and I was carried to the winner's podium. After a few minutes they led me forward to the Queen of England who congratulated me.
“I had never experienced anything like this before. When I saw my country’s flag being hoisted, it was just too much for me and I cried. That moment will live with me forever.”
The event promises a packed programme of historic racing and will also pay tribute to Scottish racing legend Jim Clark.
Tickets can be bought from the Silverstone Classic powered by the AA website.
