Spa-Classic to honour Francorchamps heroes

| 15 Nov 2011

Spa-Classic 2012 will celebrate the history of the Francorchamps circuit.

The second running of the historic race meeting, on 25-27 May, will feature the Spa Legend Club, which will honour competition cars that built the Belgian track’s reputation as the ‘Ardennes toboggan’ since the circuit opened in 1921.

Celebrations will include the country’s most famous race teams, Jacques Swaters’ Ecurie Francorchamps – founded in 1952.

Adding to the festivities at the three-day event will be the inaugural FF60 – a rally dedicated to Swaters’ work, with participants joining a parade for all pre-’72 Ferraris.

Organisers are planning static displays in addition to the full set of Peter Auto grids, including the Endurance Racing 1 and 2, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso series and a grid for 1960s endurance racers.
