FIVA World Rally 2018 is coming to the UK – Classic & Sports Car

Love driving your classic? Of course you do! And this summer there's a new event to get involved with.

This year, FIVA (the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens – International Federation of Historic Vehicles) is bringing its World Rally to the UK, between 28 August and 1 September.

It's a 450-mile, four-day, non-competitive event in stunning Mid Wales and it is open to everyone, not just FIVA members.

So if you'd like to join like-minded enthusiasts in your classic car on a picture-perfect drive in – hopefully – lovely late-summer weather, this is for you.

“We’ve chosen a central hotel venue, so there’s no need to pack up and carry your luggage in the car each day," says event organiser Paul Loveridge.

"The emphasis is on friendliness and fun, with plenty of time to complete each day’s route, and we hope to welcome many enthusiasts who’ve never done a tour before as well as more experienced participants.

“We already have more than 20 classic cars registered for the event, from Jaguar Mk2 and E-type, through Porsche 911, Triumph Stag and TR6, to MGs and Mercedes and many more. So far the cars range in year from 1951 to 1987, but as the routes never stray more than 50 miles from our hotel HQ, owners of much older cars might well feel confident to take part."

Those who have already signed up come from as far away as Argentina and Japan, as well as Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany and, naturally, the UK.

Don't have a classic and want to get involved? Check out HERO's 'Arrive & Drive' programme.

The £1375 entry covers five nights’ accommodation, all meals, a roadbook and a trip on the Vale of Rheidol Railway. Find out more here.
