Richard Graves RIP

| 2 Nov 2011

Former Rolls-Royce and Jensen sales and marketing director Richard Graves has died. Graves joined Jensen in 1965 and, working closely with Kevin Beattie, had a huge and immediate impact on the company.

It was then – with Graves and his team's direct input into the Interceptor – that the West Bromwich firm forged a new direction, building and publicising cars that it believed would be a commercial success rather than building cars it liked and hoping the market latched on to them.

Graves, nicknamed "Dishy Dick" by the workforce at Jensen, is pictured (on left) with drummer Ginger Baker, from Kieron Maughan's feature in the April 2010 issue of C&SC.
